The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will honor that tradition at this year’s SMSC Wacipi by providing free backpacks with school supplies in support of Native youth, our neighbors, and Indian Country.

The SMSC Wacipi exhibition returns to the Mall of America’s Huntington Bank Rotunda on Thursday, August 15, with two chances to preview the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s celebration of Native American culture and traditions.

Dancers gather from across the country to attend the annual SMSC Wacipi and participate in several dance categories where they compete for top honors.

Arts and crafts, paintings, jewelry, and other items will be available for sale, as well as a variety of Native American foods, both contemporary and traditional.
